This is the very first post in a new monthly reflection series called Between Breaths — an Alchemy of 1%.

It feels only right that it begins here.

Between Breaths is a pause at the close of each month.
A moment to exhale, reflect on what’s been lived, and gently reconnect with what actually matters — before moving forward again.

In a world that constantly encourages speed, optimisation, and doing more, this space is an invitation to slow down and return to the body — where clarity, wisdom, and regulation already live.

If we haven’t met yet, hi — I’m Dr Cass Tan.
I’m a chiropractor, embodiment & mind-body coach, dance enthusiast, lifelong learner, and deeply curious human.

I work with people through the body — physically, emotionally, and energetically — helping them reconnect with themselves through movement, nervous system awareness, emotional clearing, and honest, human conversation.

This space isn’t about having life figured out.
It’s about paying attention.

🌿 January 2026 — Presence, Perspective & the Gift of Now

January arrived softly this year.

More family time. Shared meals. Long walks. Familiar laughter.
Time with my partner. Cuddles with my fur-babies Lilac & Cinnabar.
Moments that didn’t need fixing, planning, or documenting — just living.

Being with family at the start of the year brought up a quiet but powerful reminder:

Life is finite.
The next moment is never guaranteed.
And yet — every new day holds opportunity.

January stirred reflections around impermanence and perspective. Around how much meaning lives in the ordinary when we’re present enough to notice it.

It reminded me that:

  • There is always a new moment

  • There is always another choice

  • There is always a chance to begin again

Not through dramatic reinvention — but through small, embodied moments of awareness.

That’s the heart of Alchemy of 1%.

What Life (and the Body) Has Been Teaching Me

From the clinic, embodiment coaching sessions, dance floors, and everyday conversations, a few themes have been consistently present lately:

  • People are tired — emotionally, not just physically

  • Many feel pressure to “have it all sorted” already

  • There’s a deep craving for simplicity, safety, and nervous-system ease

What I keep coming back to — for my clients and myself — is this:

Small actions compound.
Presence changes everything.
The body is always communicating — if we slow down enough to listen.

And growth doesn’t have to be serious all the time.

Some very real January joys included:

  • Foodie adventures and cooking experiments

  • Pokémon (still yes, always yes 😄)

  • Escape rooms, puzzles, and brain-tickling fun

  • Reading, journaling, and dabbling in languages

  • Movement in all forms — dance, climbing, walking, stretching

All of it counts.
All of it is embodiment.

✨ Something of the Month

Each month in Between Breaths, I’ll share one thing — a thought, quote, or reminder that’s been sitting with me.

January’s Something:

We don’t need certainty to move forward — we need presence.

You don’t need to know how the year unfolds.
You just need to meet today honestly.

One breath.
One step.
One moment of awareness.

That’s often enough to shift everything.

🌱 February Highlight — Live Workshop Launch

February also marks the launch of Part 1 of my 3-Part Workshop Series, running live on 17th February.

This first workshop is designed as a reset and recalibration, especially for those who are feeling:

  • Stuck, scattered, or overwhelmed

  • Disconnected from their body or intuition
